So you’re thinking about getting a scooter bu are not sure which one or what size? One question you need to be able to answer is why do I need a scooter? Once you answer that then the rest will fall into place. While a scooter is often an economical choice, the more you are aware what you use the scooter for the clearer your choice of vehicles will be. Our stable of reliable quality scooters range from 50cc up to an impressive 550cc, and each size is most suitable to particular ride requirements.

50cc Scooters are speed limited (by law). They are best suited for local suburban travel and busy inner city rides on low speed zones. But mind you, this is a crowded market where a lot of cheap imports are on offer where most are designed for speeds up to just 35km/h only. This while some of the 50cc scooters like the Kymco Super 8 also come in a 125ccm version exceeding top speeds of 100km/h. It means those 50cc scooters are equipped with a frame, wheels, braking system etc for higher speeds and they are logically much more sturdy, stable and much safer to ride.

Starting in 1946 in Pontadera, Italy: This year Vespa looks back to successfully building the world’s most famous scooters for 70 years. To celebrate, a limited edition of the most popular VESPA models has been released.

In 70 years of history, and after more than 18 million units sold worldwide, Vespa has managed to unite people from distant and different cultures through a single passion: the scooter. The first truly global brand of mobility, the Vespa has interacted with social environments distant from each other, creating different cultural phenomena, characteristics of the reality in which it has been able to immerse itself to take on the role of distinctive protagonist. It has accompanied revolutions of customs, music and youth. It has stood at the side of human advancement. It made them soar during periods of economic prosperity.

Today, the Vespa still is the benchmark for any scooter on the road and its popularity is growing as [...]

Should I buy new or used?

Great bargains but be wary of "too good to be true" vehicles

As much as we would all like to buy brand new vehicles, sometimes it just isn’t feasible and so our only option to buy second-hand. There are times when we find a good bargain and then there are times when people find to have purchased a lemon.

Buying used from a reputable dealership like Ace Scooters means that the scooter has been checked over in the workshop and test ridden by a workshop member to ensure a safe ride. The scooter must be safe, sound, reliable and licensed before we would consider selling it to a customer. There is also a warranty aspect: Below a certain mileage and age and above an amount of $3500 (as per year 2016), a dealership has to provide Statutory Warranty on a vehicle.

There is always a risk in buying second-hand machines as you never know its history and how it has been treated during its previous life. Buying a new machine sees you [...]

Licensing and Lessons

Get your license easy and quick with Ace Scooters
While about half of our customers are returning customers who already owned a scooter before, the other half has never ridden or owned a scooter. Most of them aren't sure what is appropriate for their needs and how to get there. Quite often, a 50cc scooter - which is allowed on a car license - is therefore the preferred choice as people are unsure about getting the right license, or just don't want to invest time and money to obtain one. The good news is that getting a license is actually a lot easier than you think. While there are a few exceptions, the most important steps are listed here: Step one: Get your Learners R-N (moped) or R-E (LAMS) Get your learners permit from the local Department of Transport. Note that as soon as you have your Learner's License (or any other License in WA), we can register a vehicle in your name. The Learner's License allows you to ride the vehic [...]
